LINCOLN, Neb. - The Pacific Tigers suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 4 Penn State in the opening round of the Nebraska Players Challenge on Friday, Sept. 9. Game scores for the match were, 30-13, 30-15, 30-12. The loss dropped Pacific to 4-3, while Penn State moved to 5-1.

As a team the Tigers struggled with their hit and pass as Pacific hit .000 in each of the three games. For the match the Tigers had 24 kills, but committed 24 errors. Penn State, meanwhile, hit over .400 in all three games, including a match-high .543 in the final game.

Senior Ashley Groothuis (Aurora, Neb.) led Pacific with eight kills in the match. Penn State had two players each finish with 12 kills, Nicole Fawcett and Melissa Walbridge.

The Tigers will face the No. 1 Nebraska Cornhuskers in the second round of the Nebraska Players Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. (CT).
